The leftist move to ban everyone in the world from having anything at all has lead to many things: gun control movements, anti-weapons laws, and most “innocently:” zero-tolerance policies.

Various institutions have undertaken zero tolerance policies, for example, in the military, in the workplace, and in schools, in an effort to eliminate various kinds of illegal behavior like harassment and in our case, weapons.  And in the interest of full disclosure, I often support strict interpretations of policies and laws in order to decrease crime.  But the question here has to be: if there is no risk, damage, intent, or even RISK of harm, need we really punish? What goals would punishing the innocent/inculpable accomplish?

Zachary’s offense? Taking a camping utensil that can serve as a knife, fork and spoon to school. He was so excited about recently joining the Cub Scouts that he wanted to use it at lunch. School officials concluded that he had violated their zero-tolerance policy on weapons, and Zachary was suspended and now faces 45 days in the district’s reform school.

At a time when we are dealing with public education problems in cities because of violence, discrimination, and hate-filled teens raised by incapable parents, why are school administrators spending time expelling, appealing, and even discussing a child whose admiration for his school leads him to wear a suit and tie!

It a policy leads to absurd results, then clearly its usefulness has reached its max.  Even zero-tolerance can’t be so strict and politically correct to destroy such a young child’s faith in his own education.

Houston Judge Eva Guzman has been named the first latina to the Texas Supreme Court.  She is a University of Houston Law Center adjunct faculty member, a current practicing lawyer, and has been named “Appellate Judge of the Year” by Houston are law enforcement agencies.

As I’ve been gone (Law School will do that to you) for an awkwardly long amount of time, I felt that a nice time to come back was with the same subject that I left off: Health Care.

Harry Reid announced today that the Senate will be voting on an 829 BILLION DOLLAR health care reform bill on Tuesday.  Obama’s vision come to life, and still under the $900 Billion budget he wanted to keep.

Phew, good thing we have that nice surplus to work with.  Oh, I’m sorry, that never materialized, despite Bill Clinton’s hardest wishes. (No pun intended).

In fact, according to ranking Republican member of the SFC:

“A celebration of the deficit effects masks who pays the bills…This package includes hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes and fees. Most Americans with health insurance will see their premiums increase.” (Source)

Of course they will!  After a bailout and a stimulus package, the Obama administration has to meet its 700+ Billion dollar expenditure for his third 100 days.  It seems an interesting strategy: pass all of your tax hiking bills before the voters can see them reflecting in April on their tax returns.  Many people have some shocks coming: As of 2010, when Bush’s tax cuts sunset away, April will be a hard month for everyone.

Especially if you get sick, apparently.  The SFC bill, though its not the final word, has not resolved many of the issues that many American’s face.  Co-op vs. Option? Govt. Run or Mixed Public and Private?

Like they’ve done since 2008, the Democrats are trying to keep it as vague as possible, so that when the public opinion polls are released, they can shift their view to suit them.

Until recently I was a practicing heart surgeon.  That is, until I had heart surgery myself.  Yes, that was a real turn about.  But the irony is that I sustained an unusual but described complication that has left me unable to operate.

Health care is a mess.  Folks are dying in emergency rooms, public policies hinder research, everyone sues for everything and no one gets paid…well, someone does, but I will share my thoughts about that another day.

What change is coming, messiah?  Unfortunately, Obama has been silent on this issue, which he made such a big deal about during his campaign, since Jan. 20.  Imagine that!

So lets take a stroll back: in his campaign, Obama advocated a form of universalized health care.  Unfortunately, this system just bites back the exact problems our doctor talks about earlier – the wrong person is getting paid to do the wrong thing.

In universalized health care industries, the American people are forced to pay into a system that will be just as obtuse and bureaucratic as the current tax code.  People will still be dying in emergency rooms waiting in the government bread lines.

Politicians rarely get stuck for 8 hours in an emergency room, or have their care denied because they just don’t have coverage, and I wonder how many find themselves juggling their checkbooks to pay for their medications?  And once they have, say, heart surgery, do you think they struggle to find coverage like the rest of us?

The doctor encourages your input on his website.  Please voice out your opinion there.  What change needs to come not from the government bureaucracy reallocating our hard earned money.  The change that needs to come is from the private sector, so let’s get that motivated!

In a time when the liberals want us to believe that 100% of the outside world hates us, there is continuous proof that other cultures, and other people, will risk their own lives to try and defend the values that America is trying to promote.

Whether the liberals like it or not, America has a moral stance that much of the world relies on as the pinnacle of freedom and hope.

We are not perfect.  We have our own problems, but we always have.  The difference between our great democracy is that we rest our values on something deeper than government, but allow that government to represent our values.

Let’s hope that happens in the next 4 years.

Well, believe it.  As an extension of my article on Perez Hilton, where I listed just a few of the early lies told about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, we have something new to add to the mix.

During the campaign, a unknown McCain campaign figure was quoted as saying that Ms. Palin did not know whether Africa was a country or a continent.  Finally, on Monday, we were told by GLORIOUS MSNBC that the supporter was none other that …. bum bum bum…. Martin Eisenstadt.

Wait, who?

According to MSNBC anchor David Shuster -

“Turns out it was Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, who has come forward today to identify himself as the source of the leaks,”

Well, thank God that’s finally settled.  The only issue with MSNBCs comments is that, well, Mr. Eisenstadt doesn’t exist.

 

Trouble is, Martin Eisenstadt doesn’t exist. His blog does, but it’s a put-on. The think tank where he is a senior fellow — the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy — is just a Web site. The TV clips of him on YouTube are fakes.

And the claim of credit for the Africa anecdote is just the latest ruse by Eisenstadt, who turns out to be a very elaborate hoax that has been going on for months. MSNBC, which quickly corrected the mistake, has plenty of company in being taken in by an Eisenstadt hoax, including The New Republic and The Los Angeles Times.

Of course, it’s okay to promote a television show by creating a fake institute with a fake analyst to say things about the VP candidate.  That seems legitimate…

This week, President Bush decided that it was time to cross the aisles…into the next presidency.  Obama’s aunt has been committing a crime for 5 years, and our President decided to help her out.  Why?  In order to spare Barack Hussien Obama embarrasment over having another one of his close relations acting in a way contrary to the United States’ long established customs and laws.

According to my sources, the Bush administration issued a 72-hour cease-and-desist order to all fugitive apprehension teams to spare Obama embarrassment over his Kenyan half-aunt, Zeituni Onyango. The Associated Press reported on Nov. 1 that Onyango was a deportation evader — one of an estimated 700,000 illegal alien absconders who have ignored orders from immigration judges to leave the country.

But the politicized order was even worse than the AP reported. The deportation process wasn’t simply slowed down for public relations reasons and fear of a media backlash. The process was completely frozen.

This sort of freeze on exporting illegal immigrants is quite silly.  Not only does it allow unlawful acts to continue without any fear of prosecution, but it reverts our homeland security status to the years 2000. 

The post-9/11 Bush homeland security equation looks pretty much like the pre-9/11 one, and that will continue under Obama: Cowardice plus rank opportunism times political correctness equals a lasting recipe for immigration chaos.

I’m not sure why Bush feels he has to prove anything to anyone at this point, but he clearly wants to preserve his legacy.  It’s sad when the media and the liberal bomb-throwers have convinced even the President that he will be a failure in the eyes of the future.

I wonder if this is the third time that Michelle Obama is proud of her country…

Two Big Winners for Houston on Election Day that I would like to recognize -

First, Sen. John Cornyn.

From 1999 to 2002, John Cornyn was the Texas Attorney General, the first of thus far only two Republicans to have held the positon. He served in San Antonio for six years as a district judge before being elected as a Republican in 1990 to the Texas Supreme Court, where he served for seven years. In 2005, Cornyn’s name was mentioned among possibilities to replace Supreme Court justices Sandra Day O’Connor or William Rehnquist.

Secondly, Pete Olsen defeated Nick Lampson in the District 22 US Representative Seat.  This is the seat that used to be held by Tom Delay, and was subsequently taken over by Nick Lampson.  Hopefully this is a prediction of what will occur in 2 years from now.

Voters cast out Republicans around the country and elected the first black president-elect, but the Texas congressional delegation actually gained GOP strength thanks to a man who left office in a cloud of scandal two years ago. DeLay’s the architect of Texas’ congressional map designed for perpetual Republican wins.

“That was one of the bright spots here. We took CD22 back. That was the land occupied by Nick Lampson and it’s back in Republican hands,” said Jared Woodfill, Harris County Republican Party chairman.

This is a list of University of Houston Professors which have endorsed a statement in favor of unrepentant, domestic terrorist William (Bill) Ayers.  I’d invite these professors to respond to this if they would like.

“The Days of Rage,” as the 1969 protest was called, brought several hundred members of the Weatherman—many of them attired for battle with helmets and weapons—to Lincoln Park. The tear-gassed marches, window smashing, and clashes with police lasted four days, during which 290 militants were arrested and 63 people were injured. Damage to windows, cars, and other property soared to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Around this time, Ayers summed up the Weatherman philosophy as “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents—that’s where it’s really at.”
