Bushisms moving to Obamaisms?

In the past three days, Barack H. Obama has made 2 substantial errors in his speech.  This from the candidate who insists that his Ivy League education puts him far and away ahead of Palin, who only completed a college.  She, therefore, must cling to her guns…

First, this came out… (click for video)

Asked about whether McCain himself has done anything to suggest he’s Muslim, Obama said, “Let’s not play games. What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come…”

“Christian faith,” Stephanopoulos interrupted, correcting Obama.

“… my Christian faith.

OBAMA: Let’s just list this for a second. John McCain says he’s about change, too. Except — and so I guess his whole angle is, “Watch out, George Bush, except for economic policy, health-care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl Rove-style politics. We’re really gonna shake things up in Washington.” That’s not change. That’s just calling some — the same thing, something different. But you know, you can — you know, you can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig.

I’m surprised that PETA has not admonished Obama for advocating testing of cosmetics on animals.  They may throw red paint on his flag-less suit.

Now, of course, Obama is trying to rid himself of this comments, claiming that each one was a slip of the tongue never meant to hurt anyone.  However, as of now, he has yet to apologize for a single one.  Perhaps this is all on purpose: maybe if the media focuses on his words, he will not be questioned on the issues.

Also, thanks to Laura for pointing us to this little gem…

South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate “whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

It seems like the Democrats are falling apart at the seams.  The catalyst?

The Pitbull with Lipstick : Sarah Palin.  Ever since the announcement of her candidacy for VP under John McCain, the nation has been split into two: those who love her, and those who hate her.  The great thing is that those who love her outnumber those who don’t.

After the convention, independents for the first time are in majority support of a candidate: John McCain 52%, thanks to a Gallup pole.

Not only that, but women voters are flocking to McCain: a 20% reversal after the convention…

However, it is the hockey mom wars that will preoccupy the generals of both camps. While white women favoured Mr Obama over McCain before the conventions by 50-42 per cent, the picture today is dramatically reversed, according to the Washington Post/ABC survey. Now they back Mr McCain 53-41 per cent. That is a 20-point change.

Obama’s campaign’s response comes care of David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign chief…

Your poll is wrong

That seems like a good strategy: deny the inevitable.

But McCain will benefit.
